Alan produces figurative sculpture and decorative work for churches and cathedrals in a variety of materials including wood, stone, ceramic and bronze. The work can be finished using a variety of techniques including water gilding, oil gilding and painting. The work combines a concern for iconography, symbolism and liturgical function with sensitivity to the architecture and history of the intended site. Materials and elements of the design often reference existing features within a building and can give the new sculpture a strong sense of place and connection to a church and its community.
St Luke looks very at home and has caused a stir amongst the congregation. He is much loved already and the people feel he belongs to them. It has been good for us a Church to work towards this and a personal joy to be involved with such an exciting project. I am thrilled with the result!Fr RDE Jones SSC, St Luke’s Hammersmith
